   IC INBOX: THE STORYTELLER

The Storyteller's temple on the central island of Ensō is, unsurprisingly, where your local deity can most often be found. Those seeking to strike up a conversation or pursue the Storyteller for answers are not guaranteed an immediate answer, but they can certainly try. If one waits for long enough after posing a question, their expectation for a response from the deity in question may very well prompt them to happen along...eventually.

Why wouldn't it? You're part of this island, right? Like a huge part of it. You should be part of the community too. Come down to Denny and just hang out for a bit, listen to people talk, have a drink.

[To Denny. They forget that's the...inane name that was apparently imbued into the mana pool there. They still have yet to grasp the significance of it and, to be certain, they're actually content in not caring to.]

People tend to make their...criticisms of me known.

[That is the politest possible way to put it. So you can put that in their favor; they are nothing if not aware of their faults. In part because so many have made it so obvious.]

[It does not sound remorseful, or even regretful. It is simple, direct, and placid.]

[A strong sense of justice, they would venture, if they were a guessing sort of god.]

Why does it matter that some think of me one way, and others think of me another? Do many of them not have plenty of reason to distrust entities such as myself?

[Their tone is thoughtful. A Shield - that is what he is, through and through. They've simply become used to being the exception to a great many rules, is the thing.]

[No one has ever actually thanked him for doing what he does. It'd be like thanking him for breathing.]

Of course. [They are not the best diplomat, they have learned. That is the problem with words: there are often too many of them, with too many varied and impossible meanings, and there is a world of weight between what one says and what one means - and what another party hears.]

Was there anything else you needed?

Nah... [He hadn't really needed anything in the first place.]
