IC INBOX: THE STORYTELLER

The Storyteller's temple on the central island of Ensō is, unsurprisingly, where your local deity can most often be found. Those seeking to strike up a conversation or pursue the Storyteller for answers are not guaranteed an immediate answer, but they can certainly try. If one waits for long enough after posing a question, their expectation for a response from the deity in question may very well prompt them to happen along...eventually.

[Like strangers just waltzing into your house telling you to get the fuck up.
Which has him looking back to the walls of the temple again.]
You ever miss 'em? The people that built this for you?
no subject
I miss everyone.
no subject
I'm sorry...
no subject
[Perhaps this is why they could press past Bliss's destruction, their immolation of self and their desolation of the island of Ziziphus, despite the blow of losing a fellow god.]
[Grief is an old friend. It chases them like a shadow.]
When one grows to be as old as I, one learns to adjust to grief.
no subject
[Soft and sad and a little bit exasperated. Saying they're used to it is being evasive.]
Learning to deal with it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.
no subject
[You can not die of grief, though it feels as if you can. It takes a little more than that to lay a god low, well and truly, but they would prefer this to the emptiness of a complete disregard for grief and all it represents.]
no subject
[Reminds him a bit too much of gods from back home.]
Still sucks though. [And then he seems to remember that he has liquor with him and that this is the perfect time for it. He snatches the bottle out of the basket, pours a little into an empty coconut shell for them and settles it on the floor in front of them.]
C'mon. A toast. To all those we've lost. [He hesitates a moment, thinking not of Noctis but of Cor. Of Dino and Monica and Jared and Dustin. Too many lives lost as he taps the bottle against Tory's bowl before taking a long swig.]
no subject
May they and we one day meet again.

It also burns like hell. He clears his throat, blinks over at them to see how this dog handles it.]
That's... really poetic. I like that.
Also this shit is strong.
no subject
[And look at that, Gladio: you've gotten a joke out of them. Savor that, truly.]
Do be careful. I've had to deal with quite a few instances of someone or another passing out in here, and sleeping on stone floors is never very comfortable when you've drunk yourself into a stupor.
no subject
did they just....
...................
And Gladio busts out laughing, hard enough to almost make him cry. He's still laughing a little when he takes another swig from that bottle before he re-corks it and sets it back in the basket.]
Whew, no shit. Just a couple swigs is good enough for me, thanks.
can you get drunk?
no subject
[Their amusement lingers closer to smug, but it's earnest.]
It would more have to do with the...caliber of tale with which I am supplied.
no subject
[Gladio grins at that, wicked and mischievous.]
Like... what kind of story? I might have a couple good ones for you.
no subject
[Their tone is almost...wistful.]
Not the sorts of stories that happen here.
no subject
[He's a little wistful and nostalgic himself.]
It's nice, remembering when things were better sometimes. Though I mean stuff here is, for all the weirdness, not half bad, really.
no subject
...but if you do not mind sharing your stories, I do not mind hearing them. They are always a welcome departure from the grimness of reality, don't you think?
mind if we fade out here?
Definitely.
Oh man some of the shenanigans my little sister has gotten up to...
sure thing!
[And they sound like they mean it. They're happy to hear stories of all kinds, and some of the kinder sorts are most welcome.]
