The Storyteller's temple on the central island of Ensō is, unsurprisingly, where your local deity can most often be found. Those seeking to strike up a conversation or pursue the Storyteller for answers are not guaranteed an immediate answer, but they can certainly try. If one waits for long enough after posing a question, their expectation for a response from the deity in question may very well prompt them to happen along...eventually.

Well I don't wanna be like most people. That's just rude.

[There is just so much about their assumptions no how the world works that are bullshit. Someone's really gotta start calling them on this shit.

[They do, in fact, accept it after a pause - it is only polite, after all. It is an indulgence, food, and not a necessity. If one were to approximate the nearest divine analogue to eating, the storytellings would be the most reasonable parallel.]

[They could probably find it without his help - this is their island, after all - but it strikes them as more courteous to ask.]

Still gotta finish up the roof but that wall that caved in is all fixed up.

[The Storyteller sits back on their haunches, canid jaws briefly parting in a yawn.]

I've been using it as a teaching project so I've had a lot of help. And that means there's others that can fix up their homes now too.

[It might be slower going for most of the others because... well Gladio is sturdier than most.]

It is good of you to do so. I am not much help in that area, I am afraid.

[The most they can do is provide building materials with the proper amount of stories, and that is the extent of it. They imagine this is the source of much discontent, as far as their lack of construction expertise is concerned.]

[Look this island can provide most of what they need. Seriously. There's no reason to need building materials from Tory.]

Like I said, the more people that know how to do it the easier it makes things on me.

Hmmm I got a question for ya though. A theory of sorts. Can... Would it be possible, if we built some sort of irrigation equipment, to channel fresh water from the stream through the mana pool to the islets?

Hm. It might be possible, yes. I am not much of an engineer, though...

[Their gaze drifts, momentarily. For a moment, the dog seems pensive - distant. It is not entirely clear how they manage to look contemplative while so thoroughly canine, but manage it they do.]

I believe the opportunity to explore such an option may soon arise, though I cannot specifically say when.

I can rig it all up I just dunno if I feed it into the mana pool how or if it would come out the other side.

[Since the mana pools work by you wanting to go somewhere specific and you have to think about it and everything, would it even be possible to dedicate a mana pool like that?]

It's difficult to say. The mana pools are not conducive to continuous transportation, but there may be ways...around that.

[They're not about to elaborate at the moment. Sorry, Gladio.]

[He eyes them for a moment, clearly curious but ultimately he decides not to keep pushing, just letting it go with a shrug.]

Hey... You ever think of building this place back up? I mean... I figure you've got better ways of doing it than I do.

I only have so much power at my disposal at any given time. It seems...inefficient to waste it on a cosmetic alteration.

[The place is not nearly as bad as it one was - so many people frequenting it has caused it to achieve a more lived-in look, simply by nature - but it is still a sad shadow of what it once was.]

[Gladio nods, considering. He's quiet for a long moment, looking around at the damaged walls. Could just be curiosity, could be he's appraising just how much adobe he'd need to be able to make them solid again. Cut back some of the jungle and make it something whole again.

But then there's something about the way civilization and nature have merged here that feels a little wrong to disturb.]

I am not sure it would change much of anything. There are...more useful ends to which one can endeavor.

Okay so I'm taking that as a yes but you're too stubborn and selfless to ask anyone to do something for you when they could be doing stuff for someone else.

"Stubborn" is a word oft associated with me.

"Selfless" is...less so.

[The fact that their response is so Iggy just has him cracking up, grinning and letting his hand slide down for butt scritches which all dogs love and he refuses to believe Tory won't enjoy. Even if they'll probably sass him for it.]

Well too bad cause it fits. Working yourself into the ground for other people's benefit is pretty selfless.

[They don't seem to find that quite so amusing, but they don't know what to think of it. Laughter is generally a good sign, assuming it is not couched in derision. Which this...is not.]
